Why does your small business need a website anyway?
I will just let the statistics speak for themselves. The bottom line: having a Web presence can propel your business to the next level! See for yourself:
- As of March 31, 2008, 1.407 billion people use the Internet. (Internet World Stats)
- 74.9 percent or 204.3 million Americans older than 2 have access to the Internet from home. (Nielsen/NetRatings)
This is a significant jump from 66 percent from 2003. "In just a handful of years, online access has managed to gain the type of traction that took other mediums decades to achieve," says Kenneth Cassar, Director of Strategic Analysis for Nielsen/NetRatings.
- 41% of adults surveyed in mid December 2004 said they went online often or very often to research products and services. (Harris Interactive)
- Nearly half of all Internet users will make online purchases in 2008. By 2012, there will be more than 1 billion online buyers worldwide making business to consumer transactions worth $1.2 trillion. (IT Facts)
...So don't you want these people to find your business when they go online looking for it?

My answer in 1998 [was] the same as my answer today: Yes, if you have a business, you should have a website. Period. No question. Without a doubt... You should at the very least have a presence on the web so that customers, potential employees, business partners and perhaps even investors can quickly and easily find out more about your business and the products or services you have to offer... Since many consumers now search for information online prior to making a purchase at a brick-and-mortar store, your site may be the first chance you have at making a good impression on a potential buyer. If your site looks like it was designed by a barrel of colorblind monkeys, your chance at making a good first impression will be lost.
